Praveen Kumar GS is a seasoned Director at Samsung Research with over 20 years of extensive experience in Strategic Leadership, Stakeholder Management, Delivery of customer-focused solutions, Building talent & teams from scratch and Customer Relationship Management. He is currently leading the Voice Services group at Samsung, where he leverages AI/ML-based Natural Language Processing, ASR, Wakeup, Bixby Cloud & TTS to empower next-generation Samsung products, including Mobile, Watch, Smart Fridge, Air Conditioners, TV’s, Robot Vacuum cleaners, etc. Praveen is also the AI CoE Incharge at Samsung, where he serves as a prime face between Samsung, Govt Agencies (Central and State), and top IIT’s for research collaboration in the areas of Artificial Intelligence and Upskilling of Samsung People and Processes. This is a horizontal role in the Org where he directly reports to MD for this function. Praveen's solid management skills and demonstrated proficiency in leading and coaching individuals to maximize levels of productivity while forming cohesive team environments are noteworthy. He has vast experience in leading large-sized teams of up to 200 engineers. He has also handled many “Research to Market” projects successfully in high-pressure conditions by practicing agile methodologies in day-to-day activities. Praveen has excellent interpersonal skills, self-motivation, positive attitude, and great exposure to working with people from diversified cultures. He possesses a handful of experience in converting from Strategy into Product, which delivers new impact and User experience to the world. He also has great expertise in developing and shipping products for On-device and Cloud solutions, including Hybrid architectures. Praveen has worked extensively on some of the most exciting and challenging roles contributing majorly to Smartphone subsystem development and adaptation activities for different Platforms like Android, Symbian, Bada, SHP, etc. He has very good exposure to different vendor chipsets like Ericsson, Qualcomm, Freescale, Texas Instruments, Marvel, Mtek Vision, Samsung LSI. Praveen holds an Executive MBA in Thought Leadership from Indian Institute of Management Bangalore and a B-Tech in Electronics and Communications from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University. His tech stack includes AI, Research Scientist, NLP, Mobile, Android, ML, and Software Engineer.
